OBJETIVO: El objetivo de esta investigación fue conocer el manejo del dolor dental en relación al nivel socioeconómico-cultural de los pobladores de la Provincia de Huamanga-Ayacucho. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La investigación fue un estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal. Se entrevistaron a 383 pobladores de cinco distritos de la Provincia de Huamanga. RESULTADOS: Los resultados rechazan la hipótesis formulada a través de la prueba de Chi cuadrado de Pearson (p<0.05). Los pobladores de la Provincia de Huamanga tienen como manejo principal frente al dolor dental a la automedicación; se automedican en un 72,2% frente a un 16.9% que recibe medicación profesional y un 10.9% no usa nada para manejar el dolor dental. Se encontró que la conducta de mayor prevalencia para controlar el dolor dental es la automedicación tradicional (27.6%) sobre la automedicación farmacológica (24.0%)...

The aim of the study was to determine the influence of oral habits more prevalent in the dental occlusion of infants who attended the dental clinic of San Marcos University. This is a descriptive and cross-section study in patients attending the Infant Clinic of the Child, in the 2010. The sample consisted in 50 infants who recorded the first plane of occlusion. The data collection was obtained through a survey to parents and subsequently performed clinical examination for registration of malocclusion in children. They applied the chi-square test of Pearson r (SPSS 17) with a significance level of 95 % (p <0.05).Our study observed a relation between the common digital suction depth of the palate with 60 % (11 infants) (p 0.01).
