The purpose of this study was to determine the economic and environmental sustainability of a horizontal wind turbine prototype installed in a multifamily building. Economic sustainability was determined by primary classic economic study and environmental sustainability using the emergy approach. The classic economic analysis indicates that the project is not profitable (NPV = -2971.05 US dollars), and the environmental analysis (percentage of renewability: 0.18, emergy yield rate: 1.23; environmental load rate: 4.48; energy sustainability index: 0.275; energy investment ratio: 4.35 and emergy exchange rate: 0.32) indicates a high dependence of the system regarding imported machineries, an average efficiency regarding the use of local resources for the benefit of society, low environmental impact and an average production cost over other electricity production processes.

The present work had as objective to study the increment of the leaf area of Asparagus Officinalis L., for they were used it asparagus crown with 5 yolks, to those that were applied by aspersion, different concentrations of the hormones of gibberellic acid and 6-bencilaminopurina which were applied at the 25, 60, 110 and 160 days respectively. It was found that in the different rehearsed treatments one doesn't observe differential significant in the increment of the number of plants, plant height, number of yolks and dry weight of foliage. However it was observed that the combined application of the phytohormonas in the range of 0.110 at 0.230 m of gibberllic acid and 0.037 to 0.075 m of 6-Bencilaminopurin a bigger number of yolk is achieved (13%), sprout (7%), plant height (11.3%) and dry weight (7.3%) in the treated plants. RESUMEN La Industria pesquera y el consumo de productos del mar, genera gran cantidad de residuos que derivan en la contaminación del ambiente, entre ellos la piel de los peces, que puede ser utilizada para la extracción de aditivos de uso alimentario. En este contexto, el objetivo del estudio fue evaluar el efecto de la utilización de gelatina extraída de piel de tiburón azul (Prionace glauca) en la clarificación de jugo de caña, para determinar las concentraciones y temperaturas óptimas del proceso mediante la metodología de superficie de respuesta. Como resultado se obtuvieron concentraciones óptimas entre 1.8 g/L y 2.8 g/L y temperaturas entre 47.7 °C y 50 °C. La gelatina extraída de piel de tiburón azul mostró una excelente capacidad como agente clarificante, convirtiéndose en una alternativa para el aprovechamiento de residuos pesqueros en aplicaciones industriales.

The present research was carried out with the purpose to evaluate the different concentrations of rectified ethanol in the production of “bioaroma” ethyl acetate and single cell protein from Candida utilis var.major for it a stirred – tank reactor of 16 cm of height with turbine Rushton was built. The preparation of the inoculum was carried out starting from Candida utilis var. major C.E.C.T. 1430. The broth of culture was formulated starting from rectified ethanol dilutions from 10 to 35 g/L each 5 units. The bioprocess was carried out at 25ºC to pH 4.5 – 5.5 and during a time of 60 hours. ABSTRACT The residues from agricultural and agroindustrial activities are not adequately valorised and at best they are destined for animal consumption or else they are inadequately disposed of. The objective of the present work was to estimate and highlight the energy (calorific and electric) potential of second-generation bioethanol production using lignocellulosic waste from the most important crops in Peru. In addition, the reduction of CO2 emissions by using bioethanol produced from those lignocellulosic wastes was estimated. The biomass considered in this study was from the harvest and processing of sugarcane, rice, banana, yellow corn, oil palm and asparagus. ABSTRACT Freezing (-20 °C, 12h) and alkaline (NaOH 8%) pretreatments were applied individually and combined in rice husk (Oryza sativa L.) before their hydrolysis with cellulase (EC: 3.2.1.4.). The effects on structural modifications, lignin content, cellulose, hemicellulose content and glucose production were evaluated. In addition, the glucose production kinetics were described by using the Peleg model. The homogenous rice husk (1 g) with and without pretreatments was hydrolysed with 150 U of Cellulase in 10 ml of acetate for 60 h (37 °C, pH 5.5, 100 rpm). As results, the SEM images evidenced porous microstructures with less agglomeration generated by all pre-treatments, which were intensified by the combined pretreatment. ABSTRACT This work evaluated the influence of the concentration of NaOH (100, 200 and 300 g/L NaOH) in the mercerization process at 25 °C for 1 h, and of the percentage (15, 20 and 25% m/m) of Mauritia flexuosa fibers on impact resistance in a polyester matrix composite. The polyester matrix composite was obtained by the compression molding process, at a constant pressure of 24 MPa. The obtained plates had a dimension of 130 mm long x 80 mm wide x 3.4 mm thick. Specimens for the impact assay were extracted from the obtained plates under the EN ISO 179-1 standard. Likewise, the fiber-reinforced composites without treatment were also evaluated, all the fibers were characterized before and after the NaOH treatment by means of the chemical characterization of the fiber, absorption percentage, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy ( FT-IR).
