Carta al editor que resalta la importancia de actualizar los datos de los estudios de ERC en regiones, además de hacer grandes estudios epidemiológicos, las cuales permitirán desarrollar políticas para reducir la prevalencia de la enfermedad renal crónica además de reducir costos al sistema de salud.

A 39-year-old woman, residing at 3,200 meters above sea level, with stage 5 chronic kidney disease and on hemodialysis, who presented an unscheduled pregnancy. During gestation, she was on daily hemodialysis regimen with 21 hours per week, restricted heparin, multidisciplinary management, in addition to high doses of erythropoietin reaching 16,000 IU weekly. At 32 weeks of gestation she underwent emergency cesarean section due to intrauterine growth restriction type III. A male newborn was born APGAR 8-9, weight 1,420 grams, who was transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit. After 30 days, the newborn was discharged, and the mother had a stable and uncomplicated puerperium. This is the first case reported in a pregnant hemodialysis patientliving at high altitude. The vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 has demonstrated proven efficacy to control the disease, rare adverse effects due to this therapy are still being studied, some of them renal. It is suggested that an inadequate immune response could be the cause of glomerular diseases associated with vaccination. We describe a 26-year-old patient, with no significant history, received immunity from the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (Sinopharm), after which he began with proteinuria in the nephrotic range. Proteinuria: 24g in 24 hours. Albumin: 2.36 mg/dl. COVID-19 test negative. Renal biopsy was performed with ultrasound guidance, with anatomopathological result of Focal and Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, tip variant, observing 17 glomeruli. Objective. To describe the prevalence of anemia among patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis treatment in an altitude population (3200 m a.s.l.) in the Department of Junín (Peru). Methods. Observational, retrospective study. Data were taken from the National Dialysis Registry (RENDES, 2021) in the Department of Junín (Peru) and from the medical records of hemodialysis patients of the EsSalud Social Security in the year 2021. The sample population consisted of all patients who constituted the Chronic Hemodialysis Program of the Junín Region. Descriptive data were analyzed in Stata, version 17.0. Results. The prevalence of anemia was 3.9%. Only 5 patients had anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) (3.9%). Data were collected from 128 patients. 64.8% (n = 83) were male.
