The contamination of drinking water for arsenic is a threat for health, because the OMS considered that element like carcinogen. Different countries such as Chile, Mexico, Argentina, Turkey, Taiwan and Peru have natural factors and anthropogenic factors as sources of water contamination. The objective of this study was detected the levels of Arsenic in the province of Arequipa, using a voltamperometric method for its quantification in eight different sources. Of the eight analyzed sources, four exceeded the Environmental Quality Standard (ECA) for water that can be purified with conventional treatment, which establishes a maximum concentration of 10 μg.L^(-1), these were Congata 24.72 μg.L^(-1), Tiabaya 30.72 μg.L^(-1), Sachaca 26.57 μg.L^(-1), Sabandia 37.85 μg.L^(-1). and the other four were between established limits, these were Tomilla I 4.57 μg.L^(-1), Tomilla II 1.47 μg.L^(-...

Partial depurated domestic wastewater and evacuated of conventional Treatment Plant in our city to be used as water source for irrigation of large areas of crop and animal drinking was purified by electrocoagulation (EC) using micro-scale in laboratory obtaining encouraging results of final decontamination. The initial levels of physical, chemical and microbiological contamination of raw samples were reduced significantly without reaching the Estandares Nacionales de Calida Ambiental of water Category III described in DS N° 002-2008-MINAM because progressive alkalinization and heating suffering the water samples during this treatment; however, it was demostrated that the application of the EC allows the significant reduction of the electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, oxygen demand expressed as BOD5 and COD and the content in total coliforms and the significant inc...
