This article studies the Vacunagate: a scandal during the early-2021 in Peru due to irregular inoculation of the Sinopharm candidate vaccine against COVID-19 during its experimental stage. We analyze the morality of this case in order to elucidate the public discussion on the conduct and supervision of clinical trials within the context of a Pandemic. We evaluate whether two actions were morally justifiable: (1) the use of a vaccine outside of a clinical trial, and (2) prioritizing some groups in that unusual allocation. These groups are (i) research staff of the clinical trial, (ii) public health officials leading the fight against the Pandemic, (iii) human acquaintances of the first two groups, and (iv) others. The Iliad explains the foundations of western moral. It is not a simple text with a linear argumentation. Several lessons may be obtained from the book. Some teachings can be seen contradictory as the appraisal for courage and force while, at the same time, it does not dismiss the proper place of compassion and forgiveness. Its hero model does not seem to be a machine of war. This paper explores several dimensions of heroism to illustrate some lessons which can be valid in nowadays.

This article examines the relationship between happiness and religiosity in two groups of districts in Peru. Although it is known that there is a positive relationship between happiness and religion, there has not previously been interest in studying this relationship at either end of the social pyramid. The subjects of this research are not only the rich and the poor but those who live in the poorest and richest districts. This article has two sections. The first explains how religion is practiced at both ends of the social scale. The second shows the relationship between happiness and religion. The paper states that rich people are happier than the poor even if the disadvantaged group is more religious.

Over the last decades, happiness has become an important subject addressed by several disciplines, leading to reflection on its possible application in public policies. An interdisciplinary team of researchers has brought together the most common notions associated with happiness in Peru, based on interviews with heads of households in the poorest and the wealthiest districts in the country. This paper will examine those findings from the Aristotelian theoretical framework, in order to provide a theoretical basis for possible public policies. The classical Aristotelian or Eudaimonism theory distinguishes between superficial and more profound conceptions of happiness. This article asserts that policies oriented to happiness foster full lives that include access to health, education and employment, and the encouragement of citizen solid...
