                  The aim of this study was to describe ophthalmic conditions diagnosed at the main veterinary clinic in Havana, Cuba, between 2007 and 2020 in the golden hamster (Mesocricetus auratus), guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus), rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus), and aquatic turtles (Trachemys decussata). The sample was made up of 528 animals (174 golden hamsters, 116 guinea pigs, 72 rabbits and 166 turtles) of various ages and sexes. Hamsters were the most attended (33%), followed by turtles (31%), while 55% of these animals were female. Oculars prolapse was more frequent in hamsters (62/174), guinea pigs showed a higher frequency of blepharitis (62/116), conjunctivitis predominated in rabbits (38/72) and blepharoconjunctivitis in turtles (151/166).                   Pet ownership (PO) exerts beneficial effects on the physical and psycho-emotional health of the people with whom they live, even in pandemic contexts. Animals benefit from receiving attention and care and avoiding health risks, based on the «One Health» approach. Considering the contributions and importance of the subject, a compilation study of works carried out by the authors was carried out to determine the perception of the benefits of PO in different population sectors. These were exploratory and descriptive studies, cross-sectional and quantitative conducted at the National Institute of Endocrinology and the main Veterinary Clinic of Havana, in which people responsible for companion animals (PO).                   In Cuba, a study was carried out on diseases of the ocular system in dogs and cats in the period 2000-2013 in the specialized ophthalmology clinic of the main veterinary clinic in Havana, Cuba. Based on these results, the objective of this work was to describe the frequency of these eye diseases in the period 2014 to 2020. The sample was made up of 3186 dogs and 177 domestic cats (n=3363), which was stratified by breed, sexes, and ages. In dogs, it was determined that Pekingese breed (2070; 65%), females (1820; 57%) and animals between 1-5 years (1413; 44%) and 6 or more years (977; 31%) were the most affected. Conditions of the lacrimal system (69%), cornea (10%), eyelids (9%) and conjunctiva (7%) were most frequently diagnosed.
