English has established as the universal dominant language and, therefore, for proper integration into the today’s world and the knowledge it possesses, it is essential for a person to acquire it. In Peru, the level of English language proficiency of graduates of Regular Basic Education is at a basic level despite the hundreds of hours that the state teaches it as a subject in its curriculum. Therefore, this research seeks to find the causes of low English language proficiency in Peruvian students of Regular Basic Education.
