El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar si la vivienda social en quinta es un mecanismo para la recuperación del uso residencial del Centro Histórico de Trujillo, 2020; el enfoque es cuantitativo, tipo aplicada y diseño no experimental transeccional correlacional causal. La muestra se conforma por 160 personas entre arquitectos, trabajadores municipales, trabajadores del INC y pobladores de las quintas del Centro Histórico de Trujillo, durante el año 2020; se usó como técnica la encuesta, fueron aplicaron dos cuestionarios validados a juicio de expertos y con una validez de constructo KMO de 0.763 y 0.776, y una confiabilidad de 0.826 y 0.770; para procesar los datos se utilizó el software estadístico SPSS V25. In this article there are analyzed the potentials that there possesses the church Huaman as structuring element of the local identity, since by means of the social appropriation of the heritage a plurality of individuals is recognized like belonging to the same village and to the same territory. This way the identity fortifies and a sense of belonging is generated; therefore, the social appropriation of the heritage also can be understood as the foundation that allows to construct the unit in the diversity and, therefore, generator of new identities.
