In this article there are analyzed the potentials that there possesses the church Huaman as structuring element of the local identity, since by means of the social appropriation of the heritage a plurality of individuals is recognized like belonging to the same village and to the same territory. This way the identity fortifies and a sense of belonging is generated; therefore, the social appropriation of the heritage also can be understood as the foundation that allows to construct the unit in the diversity and, therefore, generator of new identities. El propósito del estudio fue determinar si la participación ciudadana en el manejo de parques y plazas contribuye a mejorar la imagen urbana del distrito Víctor Larco herrera, 2020. Metodología: enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicada y diseño no experimental transeccional correlacional causal; la muestra fueron 383 personas (arquitectos, trabajadores municipales y pobladores del distrito Víctor Larco Herrera, 2020), se aplicaron dos cuestionarios, validados por expertos, y por constructo obteniendo un KMO de 0.724 y 0764, y una confiabilidad Alfa de Cronbach de 0.828 y 0.795; para procesar los datos se usó el software estadístico SPSS V25.
