La región Puno es poseedora de niños que saben obtener altas calificaciones, como Daniel Soncco, primer lugar en la XVII Olimpiada de Matemática en Argentina, contrario a datos como el que Perú quedó en último lugar en la evaluación internacional PISA 2012.
