Las perforaciones corticales, penetraciones intramedulares o decorticaciones se realizan a menudocomo parte del procedimiento de regeneración ósea guiada (ROG). Su sustento biológico se basa en quemejorarían la angiogénesis y proporcionarían una vía hacia el hueso esponjoso rico en vasos sanguíneos.También se consideran como un “noxious stimuli” (estímulo nocivo) que iniciaría el fenómeno regionalacelerado con una respuesta local exuberante facilitando la cicatrización ósea normal. Además, mejoraríanla unión o enlace físico entre el injerto óseo y el lecho receptor asegurando estabilidad y fusión de losbloques óseos. Sin embargo, se nos presentan algunas interrogantes relacionadas a su fundamento, a lostérminos que las describen, a los tamaños, a su cantidad y disposición, al instrumental adecuado pararealizarlas y al confort del paciente.

Introduction: The current scientific literature reflects a variability in the knowledge of dentists and physicians regarding the interactions between periodontal disease and systemic conditions. Objectives: To compare the level of knowledge about periodontal disease and its relationship with systemic alterations in dentists and physicians in the Peruvian army. Material y methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 188 participants (104 physicians and 84 dentists) selected by non-probabilistic sampling. The instrument consisted of two sections: a first part with the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants and a second part corresponding to the questionnaire to evaluate the level of knowledge.
