Deficiencies in the quality of higher education are among Peru’s main weaknesses according to the world competitiveness ranking. Therefore, this study determined the technical efficiency (TE) of Peruvian public universities using data envelopment analysis (DEA). In addition, it analyzed the relationships between the experience and education quality of the institutions, and TE. The study covered the 42 public universities registered for 2016, which were measured in terms of one input and two outputs. It was concluded that Peruvian public universities have production functions of constant returns to scale (average OTE = 56.8 %), which served as a basis for classifying institutions into four categories according to their strategic orientations (high or low) towards research or universal education. Marketing sectors need to assess the possible incidence of non-cognitive factors on complex interactions with clients. Therefore, the objective of analyzing the influence of emotional intelligence (EI) on sales force performance (SFP) through a PLS-SEM model, which relates EI components with SFP. EI was measured with EQ-I, and SFP was measured with the value (USD) of sales/year/salesperson. This analysis was applied to a sample of 58 salespeople of a supply medical equipment company in the Peruvian market. The design was cross-sectional with an explanatory scope. The results show that only the “intrapersonal” and “interpersonal” components of IE influence SFP, whereas the components “adaptability”, “stress management” and “general mood” do not correlate, which partially supports the relationship between EI and SFP.

La gerencia de las empresas debe priorizar la salud ocupacional para lograr altos niveles de desempeño. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la influencia del engagement en la satisfacción laboral de los trabajadores de una empresa metalmecánica ubicada en Lima, Perú. Para la recolección de datos, se utilizaron la escala Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9) y el cuestionario de Satisfacción Laboral S10/12; adicionalmente, se recabó información sobre variables sociolaborales. Se aplicó un diseño no experimental de tipo transversal con alcance explicativo y enfoque cuantitativo a una muestra censal de 74 trabajadores. Se empleó además un modelo PLS-SEM.
