Se presenta un caso inusual de bacteriemia fatal como complicación de un absceso hepático por Achromobacter xylosoxidans, con la finalidad alertar sobre el posible desenlace en caso no se realice un diagnóstico y tratamiento oportuno.

El Achromobacter xylosoxidans, bacilo gram negativo (BGN), fue descrito por Yabuuchi y Ohyama en 1971 (1); este bacilo causa infecciones infrecuentes, sin embargo, actualmente se está constituyendo como causa de infecciones nosocomiales emergentes, en especial en pacientes inmunosuprimidos, pudiendo llegar a una mortalidad que varía según el hospedero, desde 30 hasta 80%.

Endometriosis may be pelvic or extrapelvic, and in this latter case, gastrointestinal tract involvement represents 3-15% of cases, being most frequently located in the rectal-sigmoid region. Appendix involvement in endometriosis is rare, accounting 3-5% of all endometriosis cases. For this reason we present this case of appendicular endometriosis, which was incidentally diagnosed in a patient admitted in the emergency service with a condition resembling acute appendicitis.
