This research analyzes rhythm in fiction films based on the notion of rhythm in the arts of philosopher Susanne Langer and her theory of symbolism. Unlike previous studies on rhythm in film, conducted from mathematical perspectives with metrics of time, proportions and frequencies of montage shots, this study aims to demonstrate that the phenomenon of rhythm in film can also be analyzed from the philosophy of art, in this case, from the symbolism of Langer. In this regard, she considers that rhythm in the arts is recreated in the relationship of the tensions of a work to promote the symbolism of feelings as a whole. Se analizará el contenido temático constante en el cortometraje peruano producido por los realizadores jóvenes a mediados de la década de los noventa: la ficción individualista y desarraigada como eje de preocupación o manifestación decisiva. De este modo, se intentará dar respuesta a la siguiente interrogante: ¿Por qué los jóvenes cortometrajistas de los noventa abordan en sus películas una temática individualista y descontextualizada y no reflejan los problemas socioeconómicos, socioculturales y políticos vigentes de la realidad nacional? Enunciado: Una constante en el cortometraje peruano realizado por jóvenes realizadores a mediados de la década de los noventa: la ficción individual y sin referencias de contexto como eje temático constante que se desliga deliberadamente de aquellos aspectos referidos a nuestra realidad nacional.

Trata acerca del análisis del ritmo en el cine a partir de la articulación de las tensiones y la forma en la que el ritmo impulsa o promueve la representación de los sentimientos que el realizador expresa en una película desde el diseño de la estructura narrativa. A diferencia de otros estudios sobre ritmo en el cine en los que se resalta una perspectiva matemática, se ha considerado demostrar la noción de ritmo propuesta por la filósofa norteamericana, Susanne Langer, quien, desde la teoría del simbolismo, señaló que en el caso de las artes, el ritmo se presenta como la relación entre las tensiones, entre lo novedoso y lo antiguo, para alcanzar un impulso constante en toda la organización y el surgimiento de una nueva realidad significativa del sentimiento que desea expresar el artista.
