This paper presents the Case Study of the Geotechnical Design for Luis Antonio Eguiguren Bridge Foundation, located on the Piura river, that connects the districts of Castilla and Piura. A description of the studies carried out and the methodology used in the design of the deep foundation are provided, consistent with the structural and geological-geotechnical conditions, and the regional seismicity. The ultimate axial load capacity was evaluated, the allowable load capacity of the piles was determined based on an appropriate safety factor and the prediction of individual and group pile settlements is made. The verification of the load capacity was carried out through the dynamic load test. Likewise, the importance of the use of geophysical surveys is highlighted, mainly MASW (Method of Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves) in the analysis and design of foundations.

The behavior of soft fine-grained soils is considered one of the most complex and problematic, from a geotechnical point of view. For this reason, knowledge of its strength and deformability parameters is important and fundamental. In this paper, a review of the available literature is carried out about the use of fall-cone test in determining the undrained shear strength of these soils, the necessary calibrations and the main advances in the determination of the cone factor K. Fall-Cone este is widely used to obtain the liquid limit of soils, and due to the ease of use it becomes a quick and economical alternative to obtain the undrained shear strength of soft clay soils.

In this research, we seek to experimentally determine the undrained shear strength (Su) of a soft clay soil by unconventional methods in the practice of Peruvian Engineering. The fall-cone test was used, which is a laboratory equipment commonly used to obtain the liquid limit of soils. To calibrate the results, laboratory miniature vane test equipment was used, which provides direct measurement of Su. The study was conducted with thirteen undisturbed samples extracted from the localities of Rioja and Moyobamba in the San Martín region, Peru. As a result, an empirical correlation was obtained that allows the undrained shear strength of these soils to be determines from the fall-cone test. The research concludes that, with adequate calibration, the fall-cone is a reliable tool for determining the undrained shear strength of soft soils. Furthermore, its simple and low-cost execution makes ...

This article addresses in detail the geotechnical characterization of fine soils in the city of Pucallpa, in the Amazon region of Peru. With the main objective of describing the mechanical behavior and the very particular physical characteristics of these fine clay-type soils in the areas of Yarinacocha, Manantay and Callería, for this purpose, a geotechnical campaign was carried out that consisted of the execution of 40 manual excavations of the open-air pit type with depths of up to 1.50 meters, with the purpose of recovering unaltered samples in the form of cubes of 0.40 m on each side, for subsequent transfer to the soil mechanics laboratory of the Ricardo Palma University, where they were They carried out normal and special tests to obtain their physical and mechanical characteristics. The samples are characterized by the predominance of fine clay-type particles of high and low pla...
