The aim of this study was to analyze if relations among cultural intelligence levels, motivation to academic learning and human values on the working area in a sample of 400 argentine military students, cadets becoming officials on Argentine Army (377 men and 23 women), originating of diverse argentine provinces. Bivaried analyses of correlation through coefficient r of Pearson were made. Results show that students present tie values to the care of the national traditions, and at the same time the value “stimulation” is associated to the creative resolution of new experiences on uncertain situations, balancing their autorestriction that would limit the opening towards cultural diversity.

The study proposes to explore a model of cultural variables predictive of the effectiveness of decision making in environments whose culture differs from that of decision makers. An intentional non-probabilistic sample was composed of 130 peacekeepers. Participants responded to an experimental decision-making task in situations of high or low saturation of cultural elements typical of the Republic of Haiti (where they would participate in a peace mission under the UN mandate during the subsequent semester), and completed the Cultural Intelligence Scale (CQS; Ang et al., 2007; Depaula adaptation, 2010). A linear stepwise regression analysis indicated that 19.4% of the variance in the effectiveness of decisions made by peacekeepers depends on the cultural behaviors (verbal and non-verbal) that they display and the level of cultural saturation of situations.

The Fire Department is a protection force for the citizens of a country. Because of its role and function, it is of vital importance to the community. This study investigates the relationship between Motivation, conceptualized as a guiding variable of behavior, and Work Values, considered as guides in the career of firefighters of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (Argentina). A descriptive, correlational and group difference study was carried out with a sample of 130 firefighters (25 women and 105 men), of whom 67 were paid and 63 were volunteers. The average age was 32.32 years. The Work Motivation Scale (adapted to Spanish by Gagné et al., 2012) and the Revised Scale of Work Values by Porto and Pilati (2010, Argentine adaptation by Moreno and Marcaccio, 2012) were used. It was found that extrinsically-motivated firefighters confer, autonomously and deliberately, significance to th...
