This 2020 will be the year that the world ceased to be as it was known, since many flaws and failures of the world-system were hidden, where the meta story that we were on the right path to the development model imposed by the global elites. When we set out to carry out the first work of the classics section of this magazine on Isaiah Bowman, we not only found his production on political and geopolitical geography but also on physical geography, and much about Peru in its southern territories that we did not know. We decided to get to know Isaiah Bowman more not only as an academic but also as a politician and advisor to the highest echelons of American power in the two world wars, Bowman was convinced that he represented the free world and that is why he sadly confronted the school in his texts German geopolitics, but also in Peru in his works he describes the oppression of the Andean and Amazonian Indians who were exploited in almost slavery regimes in the south of Peru, which he detailed and was a great contribution to know the reality of Peru. But in that archeology of Bowman’s geographical thought we also find as the g...

Geography has generally been accused of being useful especially in waging war. Rather, it can offer a wide range of contributions to peacebuilding and socio-territorial conflict resolution on various national or local scales. The “Geographies for Peace” of 2017 was a thematic conference of the International Geographical Union, whose objective was, if possible, from a transdisciplinary entry, its study, in this sense, from the historical point of view and the role of the activities that socially construct the space of “Peace” such as education, culture, politics, economy or tourism, because for the sociopolitical analysis of war and peace it is necessary to carry out this exercise of measuring power and its impact on the multiscale territory . To make this review or comment of the 2017 event, we consider it very relevant and current due to the situation in the midst of the Covid-1...

This interview is a tribute to a character who came to Peru for love of a woman from Cuzco, who gave him a large family as he was used to in Belgium. Etienne Durt was present in these last 50 years of life in Peru that was transformed from the Agrarian Reform of the military government of General Velazco Alvarado, then the earthquake in Caraz and the reconstruction of the department of Huaraz in his case in the city of Chimbote . Then he was part of the state planning in the construction of the irrigation infrastructure that the country needed in that development model that the nationalist military sought from the INP (National Institute of Planning). As a good Belgian traveler, he was immersed in Peru that many Peruvians are unaware of today, Huancavelica in the midst of the internal armed conflict, Piura and its Sierra de Huancabamba, all through international development cooperation p...
