Argumentative writing skills are one of the least developed in basic education. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of writing workshops to improve first level students’ writing skills at Language and Literature Teacher Education Program of the National University of the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos 2021. The research type was evaluative with field study, transectional contemporary, univariate, and quasi experimental designs with pre-test, posttest and control group. Results show that the experimental group outperformed the control group as their mean score was higher (6,848 > 4,761 out of 10). The same happened for the dimensions: Text structure (7,803 > 4,261).
