The work conducted a bibliographic review on alphabetization scientific, which is understood as the ability to use scientific knowledge in order to understand and help make decisions about the actual world. It also sought to explain the evolution of the dimensions of scientific literacy and to present theoretical proposals for methodological strategies to help improve it. Determina la dimensión predominante de la alfabetización científica en discentes del 6° de primaria de la I.E. N° 88107 “Virgen de Fátima” ubicada en Huarmey, provincia perteneciente a Áncash. Con respecto a la metodología, el estudio es de tipo descriptivo- explicativo con un diseño no experimental. La base informativa fue obtenida mediante una prueba que estuvo compuesta por 30 ítems, aplicada a una muestra de 70 estudiantes del sexto grado de primaria. Por otra parte, la confiabilidad delinstrumento se determinó mediante Kuder Richardson y la validez se realizó por juicio de expertos. Con base en los resultados, se colige que la dimensión predominante de la alfabetización científica son las situaciones o contextos científicos, puesto que, presenta mayor peso en relación a las otras dimensiones.
