En la novela ¡Aquí están los Montesinos! (2006) de Feliciano Padilla se desarrolla un conflicto entre el mundo gamonal y andino de Apurímac; por eso, Alancho, personaje principal, se configura como un bandolero, ya que se enfrenta de forma intransigente al sistema y se acerca de manera íntima a los pobladores andinos. Así construye una figura populista entre los apurimeños, que ayuda a construir una visión mítica de este personaje, donde confluyen la conciencia popular de la población y los sucesos bandoleros. Esta investigación tiene como finalidad estudiar cómo la categoría del mito influye en la construcción del personaje de Alancho. Para ello, se apela a las categorías de lo mítico, el bandolerismo y el populismo desde la perspectiva de Josef Estermann, Carmen Vivanco, John Valle y Javier Mariátegui.
