Bacterial resistance to antibiotics has become an important public health issue that involves human medicine, veterinary medicine, food and environmental safety in Perú. This work, developed in a private laboratory located in the city of  Lima - Peru,  focused on the phenotypic and genotypic detection of Escherichia coli (Escherich, 1885) strains that produce extended spectrum β-lactamase enzymes (βLEE), isolated in poultry. A total of 185 isolated bird samples of E. coli from 26 intensive breeding companies located in Peru were evaluated. The results reflected that 38.4% of strains with the presence of ESBL confirmed phenotypically; Likewise, genes were expressed from total DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) obtaining 33.5% between the blaTEM, blaSHV and blaCTX-M-1 genes and 4.9% of E. coli strains producing βLEE phenotypic, no gene bla determined. As a conclusion, the...

The dog is one of the oldest domestic animals in the world and man's best friend. Like us, dogs can suffer from various illnesses throughout their lives. Many of them can be cured and with a good prevention system, their eff ects can be avoided or minimized. Th is study determined which are the most common diseases and conditions in canines with the information collected from veterinary clinics in Lima, Peru, from 2013 to 2018. For this purpose, a total of 841 clinical records from diff erent Lima veterinarians were collected and cataloged related to these diseases. A total of 269 cases was enclosed in the study, resulting in 65 of dermatitis (7.72%), 40 males and 25 females; 59 of fracture (7.01%), 48 males and 11 females; 56 of gastroenteritis (6.65%), 41 males and 15 females; 52 of otitis (6.18%), 44 males and 8 females; and 37 of Demodex Owen, 1843 (4.39%), 27 males and 10 females. An investigation was carried out whose purpose was to determine the characterization of dog bite accidents (Canis lupus familiaris Linnaeus, 1758). 624 cases were collected through the datasheets of the MINSA (Ministry of Health) of Peru from 2016 to 2019, from the zoonosis and veterinary center of Lurigancho-Chosica, Peru. Physical fi les established by MINSA for data collection for dog bites were analyzed. Once the data was obtained, the information from the surveys was processed in the Microsoft Offi ce Professional 2019 program (Microsoft Excel) and IBM SPSS Statistics. Th e results of the analysis show an annual incidence rate of 259.12 people bitten per 100,000 inhabitants, in addition to the fact that the year with the highest frequency of bites was 2016 (28.2%); Likewise, it was shown that the months with the highest frequency of dog bite cases were in January (12.7%), February (...

Th e purpose of this research aims to assess the prevalence of Brucella sp. in small and medium livestock cattle farmers in the district of Oxapampa, Chontabamba and Huancabamba province Oxapampa, department of Cerro de Pasco. Rose Bengal Test was used for the detection of Brucella sp. Antibodies. Of the 441 specimens analyzed by this study, none of them tested positive for Brucella’s antibodies, indicating the absence of the disease, that could represent a threat to livestock and public health, in the area.
