En este ensayo se ofrecen reflexiones acerca de la evolución de la ciudad de Lima desde la Lima colonial hasta la Lima megalópolis, y sobre la necesidad de su planificación urbana para promover el desarrollo urbano sostenible de la Megalópolis.

El objetivo del presente artículo es hacer algunas reflexiones acerca de la espiral histórica de un conflicto ambiental local, como fue el caso crítico de la contaminación del aire de la ciudad de Ilo por las emisiones gaseosas de dióxido de azufre de la fundición de cobre de la Southern Peru Copper Corporation, hasta la modernización de dicha fundición en el 2007.

El objetivo del presente artículo es hacer una primera aproximación al recuento de las instituciones representativas del Urbanismo en el Perú en el periodo 1946-2015, desde que se introdujo el urbanismo moderno en el país hasta la actualidad. Para ello, se ha considerado a las instituciones pioneras, la mayoría de las cuales ya han desaparecido; las instituciones actuales, que desarrollan sus funciones y actividades con diferentes enfoques urbanísticos y recursos; y las instituciones que se proponen para un futuro cercano, a fin de consolidar el rol y aporte del urbanismo en el Perú, y contribuir a promover el desarrollo urbano sostenible en las ciudades y el acondicionamiento territorial sostenible en el país.

The present article is a conceptual approximation to the concept of Urban Sustainable Development and an operative interpretation of his components for his specific application to the Peruvian reality. This article constitutes an approach to the study of the evolution of urban planning in Peru in the period 1946-2021, based on the legal framework and the institutional framework in the country, and based also on the contemporary urban planning approaches that have influenced it. In this virtue, an identification of periods in the evolution of urban planning in Peru is proposed and developed: 1946-1968, 1969-1980, 1981-1991, 1992-2005 and 2006-2021, which could mean an evolution since the “normative urban planning” of the first decades of the 20th century, to the “planning of sustainable urban development” in the second decade of the 21st century.
