The objective of the present research is demostrate in an experimental way that the continuos moderate exercise has an antioxidant effect reducing the provoked stress. With this clear objective we designed a transversal experiment using case studies with a controlled group using 32 Wistar rats with 25 grams each one and with one month old too. All these rats were distributed in four groups: “A” was the control one, “B” was induced to have stress, “C” was induced to have stress with continuos moderate physical exercise, “D” was under continuos moderated physical exercise. The stress was provoked by ethanol inhalation and some doses of amphetamine (0,5mg/Kg of weight) for 7 days. The rats were under continuos moderated exercises for 7 days. The animals were sacrificed and the antioxidant activity of Superoxido Dismutase (SOD) and Catalasa (CAT) in liver and brain was tested...

The objective of this study was to determine the association between serum uric acid (UA) and risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome (MS) in a high altitude population. We included 174 adults, natives from Junin city, 4107 msnm (75 men and 99 women). The prevalence of risk factors like as obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia and low serum level of HDL-cholesterol and uric acid serum level, were estimated. Subjects were stratified by gender into quartiles of serum uric acid levels. A higher prevalence of hyperuricemia in men than in women was found. It is observed that the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) increases in both men and women according to quartile of serum uric acid (UA). A significant association between uric acid level and triglyceride level in both men and women was found. It is concluded that the estimated values would show the prevalence...

The aim of this study was to determine serum myeloperoxidase (MPO) level, an enzyme considered as an inflammation indicator, in a high altitude population and in another at sea level, and establish the association of this enzyme with risk factors apt to develop a cardiometabolic disease. Blood samples were collected from 42 subjects in Mala (30 m - Lima) and from 65 people native to Carhuamayo (Junin 4100 m). Weight, height and blood pressure were measured. Hemoglobin (Hb) was determined in whole blood; glucose, total cholesterol, high density lipoproteins, triglycerides and MPO were determined in serum. The results show that with the exception of weight, height and Hb, no significant gender differences between the averages of other variables in both groups were observed. When comparing both populations, highly significant differences in weight (< 0,001), BMI (< 0,001), Hb (< 0,...
