Numerous studies have assessed the benefits of cleaner production on business performance but have not yet reached conclusive results. This investigation is an attempt to make two contributions to business management. Firstly, various types of cleaner production activities are compared, as well as hard and soft kills. Secondly, this study complements existing literature that focuses on Peruvian copper mining industry. The application of lean manufacturing seeks to reduce waste and increase productivity, a problem faced by SMEs in the metal-mechanic sector in Peru, due to the lack of knowledge of the tool and the organizational culture. This investigation was carried out in a mype of the metalworking sector in which, after making a diagnosis using VSM, the low productivity (47%) of the hinge manufacturing process was found as the main problem. Un problema recurrente en la industria de los restaurantes es la calidad del servicio, especialmente la demora en la entrega de pedidos. Este estudio tiene como objetivo mejorar la calidad del servicio en un restaurante, reduciendo el tiempo de atención, mediante la metodología six sigma. Se utilizó el cuestionario Servqual para evaluar la calidad del servicio, y los resultados revelaron una satisfacción del cliente del 81,05 %. Se cronometró el tiempo de elaboración de pedidos y se registró en un mapeo del flujo del valor (VSM, por sus siglas en inglés), encontrándose un promedio de 33 minutos. Se realizó una carta de control en el software Minitab, que arrojó valores de Cp y Cpk de 0,83 y 0,71, respectivamente.
