This systematic review investigated how wastewater from the dairy industry impacts microalgae production, looking to see if it could contribute to increasing biomass and reducing environmental pollution from these landfi lls. Studies published between 2018 and 2024 in Scielo and Scopus were analyzed, selecting 12 relevant publications for the analysis. It was found that microalgae can effectively take advantage of the nutrients present in dairy effl uents, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and organic matter, being used for their growth. Optimizing culture conditions, including pH, temperature, and lighting, as well as choosing suitable culture systems, such as ponds and photobioreactors, are essential factors.
