The study of the colonial cacicazgos is very important because it helps us to understand the strategies carriedout by the curacas or caciques in order to maintain their privileges. The cacicazgo was an institution thatfunctioned in colonial times as an imitation of the one that functioned in Tahuantinsuyo with the Incas, withthe aim of controlling the aboriginal population. In the present investigation aims to explore the freedom in Lima during the eighteenth century. This will have an important collection of documents consisting of the wills of the freedmen and liberty of the century Lima indicated. Although these documents reveal the few possessions left, the freedmen were struggling to describe their heritage and those who decide to appoint as his heirs and how many assets they had. The study of Peruvian independence process in the province of Pasco is important because it will help us to understand the colonial liberation movement in the path of the peoples of America. In the case of our country will highlight the human and material contribution of rural residents. The patriotic action was not the result of the expedition of José de San Martin and Simón Bolívar, rather the situation of exploitation of realistic and creole power groups, that settled in the region, especially mining region.

This paper is a systematic study of the correspondence between two intellectuals very important to the history of Peru, Philip A. Means and Luis E. Valcarcel, U.S. and Peru, respectively. It took as its starting point the collection of information on the life and work of Means, this helped to complement the analysis of the letters sent by Means Valcarcel between the years of 1932-1940. The results of this research are reflected in the number of issues that were discussed by both intellectuals, all relevant to the history of Peru, but also revealed other information international. In sum, this study provides further insights on one of the little studied peruvianists from his correspondences with Peruvian intellectuals, in this case Luis E. Valcarcel.

La historia de los pueblos indígenas coloniales no ha merecido la misma atención en la historiografía nacional como el dedicado a la élite española de la Lima colonial.
