Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio de tipo observacional, retrospectivo de casos y controles en pacientes que atendieron su parto en el servicio de ginecología y obstetricia del Hospital Belén, durante el periodo de enero 2021 - diciembre 2022. Se registró el diagnóstico de distocia de labor de parto, para más tarde distinguir a los pacientes con diagnóstico de obesidad gestacional el cual se obtuvo de datos de historia clínica de peso y talla al calcular el valor de su IMC > 30. Resultados: El estudio incluyó un total de 136 pacientes , de las gestantes evaluadas, el 35.3 % presentaron obesidad gestacional y el 64.7 % no presentaron obesidad gestacional. Del 100% de las gestantes que no tienen labor de parto distócica, el 45.6% (62) no son obesas; del 100% de las gestantes que tienen distocia de labor de parto el 30.9% (42) tienen obesidad (IMC> 30). Con un P-valor de 0.0001 es menor a 0.05 y un Ods Ratio 16.693, que nos muestra que la gestante con obesidad gestacional tiene 16 veces más probabilidad de tener distocia que las que no tienen obesidad gestacional. Conclusiones: La obesidad gestacional es un factor de riesgo asociado con la presencia de distocia de labor de parto en gestantes atendieron su parto en el servicio de ginecología y obstetricia del Hospital Belén

Materials and methods: An observational, retrospective case-control study was carried out in patients who delivered in the gynecology and obstetrics service of the Belen Hospital, during the period from January 2021 to December 2023. The diagnosis of labor dystocia was recorded, to later distinguish patients with a diagnosis of gestational obesity which was obtained from clinical history data on weight and height by calculating the value of their BMI > 30. Results: The study included a total of 136 patients, of the pregnant women evaluated, 35.3% presented gestational obesity and 64.7% did not present gestational obesity. Of the 100% of pregnant women who do not have a dystocic birth, 45.6% (62) are not obese; Of the 100% of pregnant women who have labor dystocia, 30.9% (42) have obesity (BMI>30). With a P-value of 0.0001 it is less than 0.05 and an Ods Ratio 16.693, which shows us that pregnant women with gestational obesity are 16 times more likely to have dystocia than those who do not have gestational obesity.
