Materiales y métodos: Estudio de seguimiento, retrospectivo, se llevó a cabo en 124 pacientes con diagnóstico de sepsis, que fueron hospitalizados en el servicio de medicina interna del Hospital Belén de Trujillo, durante 2021 a 2023. Resultados: Se observa que de los 62 pacientes con Índice nitrógeno ureico sérico/albúmina elevado (NUA), un 32 (51,6%) fallecieron y de los pacientes con NUA normal el 20 (32,3%), lo que significa los pacientes con NUA elevado tienen 1.6 veces mayor probabilidad de fallecer comparado con los que tienen un NUA normal, a su vez, presentan una asociación significativa entre ambas variables (p 0.029). Por otro lado, los factores asociados a mortalidad según las variables intervinientes, son; HTA, DM, IRA, SOFA elevado ≥ 7, APACHE II elevado ≥20, Origen respiratorio y Hiperlactemia, con un p <0.001, mientras que, su RR fue de 2.8, 3.0, 4.43, 4.0, 3.78 y 1.89, respectivamente. Mientras que, la obesidad se evidencia como una variable asociada a la mortalidad, asi pues, esta variable se describe como protectora dentro del estudio RR0.013 (IC 95%0.09 – 0.21). Conclusiones: El nitrógeno ureico sérico / albúmina elevado es un factor predictor de mortalidad en pacientes con sepsis del Hospital Belén de Trujillo, a su vez, esta asociado, asi mismo, Las variables intervinientes como; HTA, DM, IRA, SOFA elevado ≥ 7, APACHE II elevado ≥20, Origen respiratorio y Hiperlactemia son predictores de mortalidad de pacientes con sepsis

Materials and methods: A retrospective follow-up study was carried out in 124 patients with a diagnosis of sepsis, who were hospitalized in the internal medicine service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo, during 2021 to 2023. Results: It is observed that of the 62 patients with elevated serum urea nitrogen/albumin index (NUA), 32 (51.6%) died and of the patients with normal NUA 20 (32.3%), which means that patients with elevated NUA are 1.6 times more likely to die compared to those with normal NUA, in turn, they present a significant association between both variables (p 0.029). On the other hand, the factors associated with mortality according to the intervening variables are; HTN, DM, ARF, elevated SOFA ≥ 7, elevated APACHE II ≥20, Respiratory origin and Hyperlactaemia, with a p < 0.001, while their RR was 2.8, 3.0, 4.43, 4.0, 3.78 and 1.89, respectively.
