Se evaluaron 173 radiografías laterales de varones y mujeres, en un rango de edad entre los 18 a 55 años que asistieron al centro radiológico de Trujillo de la Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego. Utilizando para la profundidad de la bóveda palatina como referencia una línea desde la cara mesiovestibular de la primera molar superior hasta la bóveda palatina, paralelo al plano del eje vertical en mm y el perfil AP se determinó mediante el ángulo de convexidad. Los datos recolectados se analizaron con el programa estadístico SPSS v.26 y se emplearon la estadística inferencial mediante la prueba de chi-cuadrado (p<0.05). Resultados: Se encontró que no existe relación entre la profundidad de la bóveda palatina y el perfil facial antero posterior en radiografías laterales o (p=0,854; p>0,05). Del total de pacientes, la profundidad de bóveda palatina normal (61.3%) y el tipo de perfil convexo (20.8%) fueron los más prevalentes. Conclusiones: No existe relación entre la profundidad de la bóveda palatina y el perfil facial antero posterior en radiografías laterales en pacientes de 18 a 55 años

Materials and methods: The study was cross-sectional, descriptive, retrolective and observational. We evaluated 173 lateral radiographs of men and women between 18 and 55 years of age who attended the Trujillo radiology centre of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego. For the depth of the palatal vault, a line from the mesiovestibular face of the first upper molar to the palatal vault was used as a reference, parallel to the vertical axis plane in mm, and the AP profile was determined by the angle of convexity. The data collected were analysed with the SPSS v.26 statistical programme and inferential statistics were used using the chi square test (p<0.05). Results: It was found that there was no relationship between the depth of the palatal vault and the antero posterior facial profile in lateral or lateral radiographs (p=0.854; p>0.05). Of all patients, normal palatal vault depth (61.3%) and convex profile type (20.8%) were the most prevalent.
