Resultados: Las variables del score FINDRISC y riesgo de Diabetes Mellitus tuvieron un nivel de significancia p < 0,000 la cual es menor al 5% (p < 0,05), El puntaje del score FINDRISC dio como resultado un riesgo bajo (< 7 puntos) el 35,1% (137), un riesgo ligeramente aumentado (7- 11 puntos) el 28,2% (110), riesgo moderado (12-14 puntos) el 17,9% (70), riesgo alto (15-20 puntos) el 16,9 % (66), y riesgo muy alto (> 20 puntos) el 1,8 % (7) y para los grupos < 12 puntos el 63 % (247) y ≥ 12 puntos el 37 % (143). Conclusión: El score FINDRISC es una herramienta para determinar el riesgo de Diabetes Mellitus. A más puntaje, mayor riesgo de Diabetes Mellitus. La obesidad, el sedentarismo y la circunferencia abdominal mayor, son factores de riesgo principales en el grupo ≥ 12 puntos, siendo el grupo más preocupante en la investigación

Material and method: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 390 patients from Level II and III Hospitals of the city of Piura, where they registered with the FINDRISC score, complying with the criteria of inclusion. The analysis was performed with Pearson's Chi square test with a 95% confidence interval (p<0.05). Results: The FINDRISC score variables and risk of Diabetes Mellitus had a level of statistical significance of p <0.000 which is less than 5% (p < 0.05). The FINDRISC score resulted in a low risk (< 7 points) 35.1% (137), slightly increased risk (7-11 points) 28.2% (110), moderate risk (12-14 points) 17.9% (70), high risk (15-20 points) 16.9% (66), and very high risk (> 20 points) 1.8% (7) and for the groups < 12 points 63% (247) and ≥ 12 points 37% (143 ). Conclusion: The FINDRISC score is a tool to determine the risk of Diabetes Mellitus. The more the score, the greater the risk of Diabetes Mellitus.
