Sumario:The present work was carried out with the objective of determining the crop medium for the multiplication of Cattleya rex O'Brien as an alternative for low propagation in a temporary immersion system. Seedlings previously established in M and S medium (Murashige and Skoog, 1962) supplemented with thiamine 0.1 mlL-1, 0.5 mlL-1 nicotinic acid, 20 gL-1 sucrose and coconut liquid endosperm 200mlL-1 were used. The temporary immersion System consisted of two glass flasks of 1000 ml capacity, one for the growth of the seedling, and the other as a reservoir of the crop medium; these vials were connected by a silicone hose and hydrophobic filters of 0.22 μM were placed. The crop medium circulated from one bottle to another by the opening and closing of two solenoid valves of three-way that were connected to a timer. A completely randomized design (DCA) was used, with four treatments and four replicates. The T1, was composed of M and S, and the treatments T2, T3 and T4, with different concentrations of foliar fertilizer 11-8-6 (6.8, 7.1 and 7.4 mlL-1), complex B (2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 mlL-1) and banana silk (35, 20 and 45 gL-1). With a time of immersion of 14 minutes every 4 hours, it was obtained as better treatment to T1 (MyS) in the multiplication and quality of shoots, with coefficient of multiplication of 1.27, average of roots of 2.20 and a percentage of mortality of 2%, Being the most appropriate medium for the in vitro propagation of Cattleya rex O'Brien, under the Temporary Immersion System
