Sumario:Obesity before pregnancy and excessive weight gain during pregnancy have been implicated as potential factors contributing to the risk of developing preeclampsia, a leading cause of maternal and perinatal complications and deaths. This study seeks to analyze the relationship between pre-pregnancy obesity and excessive weight gain during pregnancy and the development of preeclampsia in pregnant women treated at the Felipe Santiago Arriola Iglesias Regional Hospital of Loreto in 2024. An observational, analytical, and retrospective study with a case-control approach will be designed, including pregnant women with and without a diagnosis of preeclampsia. The association with pre-pregnancy body mass index and gestational weight gain will be evaluated. Statistical analysis will include the calculation of the Odds Ratio (OR) and the Chi-Square test to estimate the strength of the association and its significance. The results obtained will contribute to improving risk stratification in prenatal care and promoting preventive strategies in maternal health, aimed at reducing complications related to preeclampsia in the region.
