Departamento Académico de HorticulturaEl presente trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de explicar el manejo agronómico y sus criterios para el control de la pudrición apical del fruto (Blossom end Rot) del pimiento para la producción de semillas híbrida en el valle de Cañete, pues la pudrición apical es uno de los principales factores que disminuye el rendimiento causando pérdidas económicas, es por ello que se debe mencionar que la pudrición apical de fruto se produce por una deficiencia nutricional de calcio en la planta, la cual es generada fundamentalmente por un estrés hídrico en la etapa fenológica de crecimiento de fruto, siendo este periodo considerado como crítico. La absorción y movilización de calcio en la planta es limitada cuando hay un estrés o déficit hídrico, por lo que se debe mantener al sistema radicular de la planta en constante desarrollo, asimismo, se debe indicar que el pimiento es una planta que presenta un área radicular superficial y poco regenerativa; siendo sensible al estrés hídrico en especial durante la primera etapa vegetativa y crecimiento de fruto, ya que puede producir una serie de alteraciones en los mecanismos morfológicos de la planta como: reducción del área foliar, menor crecimiento de raíces, alteración en la relación de raíz/brotes, en el llenado de semillas, entre otros. Es por ello que, en el presente trabajo se propone un programa de fertirriego en donde a la primera etapa fenológica vegetativa no se le aplique un déficit hídrico, sino que se suministre una cantidad adecuada de agua para que desarrolle la máximo área radicular, con el objetivo de que en las etapas fenológicas posteriores del cultivo con una mayor demanda de agua no tengan problemas de deshidratación, ni de deficiencia de nutrientes, para que no se genere el problema de necrosis apical y no haya pérdidas económicas.The present work was carried out with the objective of explaining the agronomic management and its criteria for the control of the apical rot of the fruit (Blossom end Rot) of the pepper for the production of hybrid seeds in the Cañete valley, since the apical rot is a of the main factors so that the performance decreases causing economic losses. It should be mentioned that fruit apical rot is produced by a nutritional deficiency of calcium in the plant, which is fundamentally generated by hydric stress in the phenological stage of growth of the fruit. fruit, this period being considered critical.
