El fin de la investigación de tesis fue evaluar veintinueve familias segregantes del cultivo de zapallo loche Cucurbita moschata Duchesne que se obtuvieron por selección de semilla a partir de frutos de zapallo loche. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completos al azar (DBCA) con 3 repeticiones, en el campo experimental “Guayabo I”. Se empleó semilla botánica provenientes de una multiplicación en una colecta de campo. De las 29 familias segregantes evaluadas, las características cualitativas predominantes del fruto fueron: piel principal de color verde, forma de costilla redondeada, forma aplanada de la base, pronunciación superficial de surco, forma piriforme, textura de piel suave, color amarillo intenso mostaza de pulpa y calidad fibroso intermedio al masticar la pulpa. Estos parámetros fueron estadísticamente superior al resto. Los tratamientos 9, 19 y 29 fueron los más sobresalientes, con caracteres cuantitativos en función al diametro del fruto, espesor de pulpa, peso de fruto y rendimiento. Se realizó un análisis de componentes principales y de agrupamiento para conocer los descriptores que expresan mayor grado de variabilidad, según el análisis de agrupamiento, se han formado 10 grupos a una distancia de corte de 8.2 con la finalidad de seleccionar y conservar las familias más idóneas de acuerdo a parámetros agronómicos, organolépticos y de calidad. En relación a la caracterización morfológica, se han adaptado los descriptores de cucurbitáceas desarrollados por el International Plant Genetic Resources (IBPGR), a fin de lograr la caracterización agronómica del fruto y este sirva de complemento a futuras investigaciones en mejoramiento genético y programas de producción sobre el cultivo del zapallo loche.Peru does not have national cultivars of genetically improved loche squash. The purpose of the thesis-research was to evaluate 29 segregating families of the loche squash (Cucurbita moschata) that were obtained by seed selection from the loche squash fruits. A randomized complete block design (DBCA) with 3 repetitions was used in the Guayabo I experimental field. Botanical seed from a multiplication in a field collection was used. Of the 29 segregating families evaluated, the predominant qualitative characteristics of the fruit were:Green ma in skin, rounded rib shape, flattened base shape, shallow furrow pronunciation, pyriform shape, smooth skin texture, intense mustard yellow color of the pulp and intermediate fibrous quality when chewing the pulp. These parameters were statistically superior to the rest. treatments 9, 19 and 29 were the most outstanding, with quantitative characters based on the diameter of the fruit, pulp thickness, fruit weight and yield. An analysis of principal components and grouping was carried out to determine the descriptors that express the greatest degree of variability. According to the grouping analysis, 10 groups have been formed at a cutting distance of 8.2 with order to select and preserve the most suitable families according to agronomic, organoleptic and quality parameters.
