Departamento Académico de Economía y PlanificaciónSe analiza el potencial competitivo de Perú, Colombia y Brasil en la producción y exportación de bioetanol al mercado neerlandés durante el período 2017-2021. A través de un enfoque cuantitativo basado en indicadores como la Ventaja Comparativa Revelada (VCR), Tasa de Crecimiento de Exportaciones (TCE), Eficiencia Exportadora, Participación Constante de Mercado (CMS) y Posicionamiento en el Mercado, se evalúa el desempeño de Perú, Brasil y Colombia en este sector. Se encontró que Brasil lidera el mercado con una VCR de 1071.68, mientras que Perú presenta una ventaja competitiva considerable (VCR = 466.56), pero aún por debajo de Brasil. Colombia, con una VCR de 3.78, evidencia una baja especialización en la exportación de bioetanol. Colombia (TCE: 138.11%) ha experimentado el mayor crecimiento relativo, aunque partiendo de una base de exportaciones muy baja, mientras que Perú (23.25%) muestra un crecimiento estable y Brasil (7.03%) una expansión más moderada. No obstante, los valores negativos en la eficiencia exportadora sugieren que los tres países han enfrentado dificultades para mejorar su competitividad internacional. En cuanto a la inserción en el mercado neerlandés, Perú tiene la mayor CMS (0.082), seguido por Brasil (0.032), mientras que Colombia no ha logrado consolidar su presencia en este mercado. Se concluye que, aunque Perú posee un potencial significativo para expandir su participación en el mercado neerlandés de bioetanol, enfrenta barreras regulatorias y de eficiencia exportadora relacionada con la infraestructura productiva, escasez de mercados de destino y necesidad de reforzar los estándares de sostenibilidad de la Unión Europea para consolidar su posicionamiento. Se recomienda investigar estos aspectos de la competitividad.This study analyzes the competitive potential of Peru and other South American countries in bioethanol production and export to the Netherlander market during the period 2017-2021. Using a quantitative approach based on indicators such as Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Growth Rate (EGR), Export Efficiency, Constant Market Share (CMS), and Market Positioning, the performance of Peru, Brazil, and Colombia in this sector is assessed. The results indicate that Brazil leads the market with an RCA of 1071.68, while Peru has a considerable competitive advantage (RCA = 466.56), though still below Brazil. Colombia, with an RCA of 3.78, shows a low specialization in bioethanol exports. Colombia (EGR = 138.11%) has experienced the highest relative growth, albeit from a very low export base, while Peru (23.25%) shows stable growth and Brazil (7.03%) exhibits a more moderate expansion. However, the negative export efficiency values suggest that all three countries have struggled to improve their international competitiveness. Regarding insertion in the Netherlander market, Peru has the highest CMS (0.082), followed by Brazil (0.032), while Colombia has failed to consolidate its presence. It is concluded that, although Peru has significant potential to expand its share of the Dutch bioethanol market, it faces regulatory and export efficiency barriers related to production infrastructure, a shortage of destination markets, and the need to strengthen European Union sustainability standards to consolidate its position.
