Departamento Académico de Economía y PlanificaciónLa evolución de las exportaciones agrarias del Perú consolida a la agricultura como el segundo sector más importante en las relaciones comerciales Perú-Estados Unidos. Este dinamismo se ha enmarcado en un proceso de apertura económico-comercial y en un entorno de crecimiento sostenido de los precios internacionales del sector. La investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la incidencia del Acuerdo de Promoción Comercial (APC) Perú-Estados Unidos en las exportaciones agrarias peruanas hacia dicho país. Para ello, se determinó el impacto de los precios internacionales en las exportaciones en el sector, construyéndose un índice de precios mensuales de exportación. Se concluye que, efectivamente, durante el periodo analizado, un crecimiento del 1 por ciento en el índice de precios habría generado un crecimiento aproximado del 1,98 por ciento en las exportaciones mensuales. Con respecto al tratado, se concluye que la entrada en vigor del acuerdo no significaría un punto de cambio estructural para las exportaciones peruanas. Con ello, el dinamismo del sector y su oferta exportable en la última década no seria enteramente explicado por la apertura comercial del tratado, sino sería el resultado de las condiciones estructurales del sector, un entorno internacional e incentivos favorables que han permitido su consolidación y desarrollo.Peru’s agricultural exports have consolidated as the second most important segment of its trade relationship with the United States. This new reality has been accompanied by a process of international economic and commercial opening, framed in an environment of growing international prices for the sector. The purpose of this research is to analyze the significance of the Peru-United States Free Trade Agreement in the former’s exports. For this purpose, a monthly export price index was built, determining the impact of international prices on exports. The results suggest that during the period under evaluation, a 1 percent growth in the price index would have generated an approximate 1.98 percent growth in monthly exports. Concerning the treaty, it is inferred that the entry into force of the agreement would not have meant an inflection point for Peru’s exports.
