Departamento Académico de HorticulturaEl presente estudio evaluó los costos y la eficacia de diferentes tratamientos de herbicidas en comparación con el deshierbe manual, para el control de malezas en almácigos de cebolla en Jayanca, Lambayeque, Perú. Los resultados mostraron que el costo del deshierbe manual (1,520 soles/ha) fue significativamente mayor que los tratamientos con herbicidas, cuyos costos variaron entre 93 soles/ha para oxyfluorfen y 680 soles/ha para otros herbicidas. Esto indica que el uso apropiado de herbicidas puede ser una alternativa más rentable para el control de malezas en almácigos de cebolla. Las conclusiones señalan que es posible encontrar herbicidas que brinden un adecuado control tanto de malezas gramíneas como de hoja ancha. Sin embargo, se debe tener cuidado en sincronizar la aplicación de los herbicidas con las etapas de crecimiento de las plántulas de cebolla, para evitar fitotoxicidad. Además de los herbicidas, se recomienda implementar prácticas preventivas como rotación de cultivos, deshierbe manual y solarización, para mantener bajos los propágulos de malezas. Como recomendación, se propone utilizar la técnica de herbigación (aplicación de herbicidas vía sistema de riego por goteo) para lograr una mejor aplicación de herbicidas pre-emergentes, reduciendo la deriva y los costos. Asimismo, se debe hacer un manejo integrado del almácigo, aplicando con precisión productos sanitarios, bioestimulantes, fertilizantes y agua, con el fin de maximizar el potencial genético del cultivo y evitar la propagación de malezas.The present study evaluated the costs and efficacy of different herbicide treatments compared to manual weeding for weed control in onion seedlings in Jayanca, Lambayeque, Peru. The results showed that the cost of manual weeding (1,520 soles/ha) was significantly higher than herbicide treatments, whose costs ranged from 93 soles/ha for oxyfluorfen to 680 soles/ha for other herbicides. This indicates that the appropriate use of herbicides can be a more cost-effective alternative for weed control in onion seedlings. The conclusions indicate that it is possible to find herbicides that provide adequate control of both grass and broadleaf weeds. However, care should be taken to synchronize herbicide application with the growth stages of onion seedlings to avoid phytotoxicity. In addition to herbicides, it is recommended to implement preventive practices such as crop rotation, manual weeding and solarization to keep weed propagules low. As a recommendation, it is proposed to use the herbigation technique (herbicide application via drip irrigation system) to achieve a better application of pre-emergent herbicides, reducing drift and costs.
