Materiales y Método: esta investigación tuvo un enfoque mixto (cualitativo y cuantitativo) y diseño transversal, dado que se realizó el análisis de artículos científicos de manera sistemática, considerando tanto la síntesis narrativa de los datos cualitativos como el posible meta-análisis de datos cuantitativos. Resultados: se seleccionaron 78 estudios, evaluando compuestos como flavonoides y fenoles, que mostraron efectos hipoglucemiantes y beneficios en la regulación glucémica en pacientes diabéticos. La investigación reveló el potencial antioxidante y antiinflamatorio de plantas como Annona muricata y Camellia sinensis, lo que las convierte en alternativas prometedoras para el tratamiento de la diabetes tipo II. Conclusiones: las plantas medicinales presentan un importante potencial en el tratamiento de la diabetes tipo II, pero es necesario realizar más estudios para confirmar sus beneficios y ampliar el conocimiento en diferentes contextos geográficos.

Materials and Method: this research used a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative) and a cross-sectional design, as scientific articles were systematically analyzed, considering both the narrative synthesis of qualitative data and the possible meta- analysis of quantitative data. Results: seventy-eight studies were selected, evaluating compounds such as flavonoids and phenols that showed hypoglycemic effects and benefits in glycemic regulation in diabetic patients. The research revealed the antioxidant and anti- inflammatory potential of plants such as Annona muricata and Camellia sinensis, making them promising alternatives for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
