La presente investigación es de metodología cualitativo, diseño no experimental, transversal y descriptivo-correlacional. Población 1 200 trabajadores con muestra de 291. Técnica la encuesta e instrumento el cuestionario. Resultados: mayor prevalencia de automedicación de antibióticos en trabajadores de 30 a 39 años (30.2%), femeninas (67%), solteros (41.2%), con estudios técnicos (35.7%), afiliados al SIS (62.5%), que perciben deficiencias hospitalarias (45.7%), y demoras en las consultas (46.4%), con sueldos mayores al mínimo (46.7%), de religión católica (87.6%), sin para acudir al médico (38.1%). Las razones de autoconsumo fueron por decisión propia (50.9%) y para tratar infecciones respiratorias (72.9%), los antibióticos más consumidos fueron penicilinas (73.5%). La automedicación de antibióticos se asocia significativamente con las personas que perciben deficiencias en los hospitales (p 0.000), y demoras en las consultas hospitalarias (p 0.001), pertenecientes a una religión (p 0.001), y sin tiempo para acudir al médico (p 0.027). Conclusión: los trabajadores del Mercado San Camilo, distrito del Cercado en Arequipa, presentan factores socioculturales asociados significativamente con la ingesta de antibióticos sin prescripción médica durante la pandemia del COVID-19. |

Methodology: qualitative, non-experimental, transversal and descriptive-correlational design. Population 1,200 workers with a sample of 291. Survey technique and questionnaire instrument. Results: greater prevalence of self-medication of antibiotics in workers aged 30 to 39 years (30.2%), female (67%), single (41.2%), with technical studies (35.7%), affiliated with the SIS (62.5%), who perceive hospital deficiencies (45.7%), and delays in consultations (46.4%), with salaries greater than the minimum (46.7%), of catholic religion (87.6%), without going to the doctor (38.1%). The reasons for self-consumption were by own decision (50.9%) and to treat respiratory infections (72.9%), the most consumed antibiotics were penicillins (73.5%). self-medication of antibiotics is significantly associated with people who perceive deficiencies in hospitals (p 0.000), and delays in hospital consultations (p 0.001), belonging to a religion (p 0.001), and without time to go to the doctor (p 0.027).
