Material y método: el estudio es de enfoque cuantitativo con diseño no experimental; la población estuvo constituida por estudiantes de ambos sexos siendo el total de 100 estudiantes de 3ro, 4to y 5to grado de secundaria entre las edades de 13 y 17 años matriculados en la Institución Educativa N° 166 Karol Wojtyla. El instrumento empleado para medir la funcionalidad familiar fue “el cuestionario SS FIL” de (Pérez et al., 1997). Resultados: se muestra que no tenemos familia severamente disfuncional, sin embargo; existe familia disfuncional 22,0%, familia moderadamente funcional 63,0% y familia funcional un 15,0%. En cuanto a las dimensiones cohesión 40,0% es familia moderadamente funcional, dimensión armonía 51,0% es familia funcional, dimensión comunicación 49.0% es familia moderadamente funcional, dimensión de permeabilidad 58,0% es familia moderadamente funcional, dimensión afectividad 54,0% es familia moderadamente funcional, dimensión roles 45,0% es familia funcional y adaptabilidad 55,0% es familia moderadamente funcional. Conclusiones: en la encuesta de funcionalidad familiar, la categoría de “moderadamente funcional” es la predominante en los alumnos de 3ro, 4to y 5to grados de secundaria del centro educativo Karol Wojtyla, 2023.
