description El presente trabajo expone el abordaje clínico de un caso de trastorno de ansiedad generalizada en un adulto mayor, con énfasis en los factores psicosociales asociados al envejecimiento. A través de una evaluación integral y la propuesta de un plan de intervención psicológica desde el enfoque cognitivo-conductual, cuya finalidad busca reducir los síntomas ansiosos y mejorar la calidad de vida del paciente. El estudio de caso permitió identificar elementos clave como el aislamiento social, la percepción de pérdida y el deterioro de la red de apoyo como factores relevantes en la aparición y mantenimiento del cuadro clínico. A través de las técnicas propuestas en un plan de intervención como la reestructuración cognitiva, la respiración diafragmática y el entrenamiento en habilidades de afrontamiento, resaltará la importancia de una atención psicológica oportuna y adaptada a las necesidades de los adultos mayores.

A través de las técnicas propuestas en un plan de intervención como la reestructuración cognitiva, la respiración diafragmática y el entrenamiento en habilidades de afrontamiento, resaltará la importancia de una atención psicológica oportuna y adaptada a las necesidades de los adultos mayores.The present work presents the clinical approach to a case of generalized anxiety disorder in an older adult, with emphasis on the psychosocial factors associated with aging. Through a comprehensive evaluation and the proposal of a psychological intervention plan from the cognitive-behavioral approach, the purpose of which seeks to reduce anxious symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life. The case study made it possible to identify key elements such as social isolation, the perception of loss and the deterioration of the support network as relevant factors in the appearance and maintenance of the clinical condition.
