Destacan extractos herbales como cúrcuma y boswellia por su eficacia clínica similar o superior a tratamientos convencionales (AINEs) y menor incidencia de efectos adversos. Se identificó predominancia investigativa en Asia (China, Corea del Sur, Irán), evidenciando un fuerte interés por la medicina tradicional en estos países. La evidencia actual respalda el uso complementario de la medicina tradicional en el tratamiento de la osteoartritis, destacando especialmente formulaciones basadas en cúrcuma, Boswellia serrata y combinaciones tradicionales. No obstante, son necesarios estudios futuros con diseños más robustos y estandarización clara para validar estos hallazgos a nivel global e integrarlos adecuadamente en protocolos clínicos internacionales.

The evaluated interventions consistently showed significant improvements in pain reduction, stiffness, and joint functionality. Herbal extracts such as turmeric and Boswellia stood out for their clinical efficacy comparable to or superior to conventional treatments (NSAIDs) with fewer adverse effects.
