OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the validity and reliability of the PHEEM questionnaire for measuring educational environment in a medical residency program. METHODOLOGY: A cross-cutting study with a qualitative and quantitative approach was conducted. Cultural adaptation, content validity and construct validity were evaluated. Reliability was assessed by measuring internal consistency. RESULTS: Modifications suggested by residents and teachers were made to some items in the survey to improve their comprehensibility. Factorial analysis was performed found 5 factors or dimensions. An excellent overall reliability coefficient of 0.97 was obtained. Some expert teachers proposed additional items that evaluate the educational environment and were not included in the original survey. CONCLUSION: PHEEM questionnaire proved to be a valid and reliable instrument for assessing the educational environment in medical residency. |

La evaluación del ambiente educacional es una necesidad de los programas de residentado médico. No existen instrumentos validados en nuestro medio para evaluar ambiente educacional en el residentado médico. OBJETIVO: Evaluar la validez y la confiabilidad del instrumento PHEEM para medir ambiente educacional en el residentado médico. METODOLOGÍA: Se realizó un estudio de corte transversal con enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo. Se realizó la adaptación cultural, se evaluó la validez de contenido y la validez de constructo mediante el análisis factorial. Se evaluó la confiabilidad midiendo la consistencia interna. RESULTADOS: Se realizaron las modificaciones sugeridas por residentes y docentes en algunos ítems de la encuesta para mejorar su comprensibilidad. Se realizó el análisis factorial que encontró 5 factores o dimensiones. Se obtuvo un coeficiente de confiabilidad global excelente, de 0.97. Los docentes expertos propusieron ítems adicionales que evalúan ambiente educacional y que no estuvieron en la encuesta original.
