| Sumario: | INTRODUCTION: The educational environment is directly related to the learning and well-being of residents and patient care. Assessment of the educational environment is a necessity of medical residency programs. There are no validated instruments in our country to evaluate educational environment in medical residency. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the validity and reliability of the PHEEM questionnaire for measuring educational environment in a medical residency program. METHODOLOGY: A cross-cutting study with a qualitative and quantitative approach was conducted. Cultural adaptation, content validity and construct validity were evaluated. Reliability was assessed by measuring internal consistency. RESULTS: Modifications suggested by residents and teachers were made to some items in the survey to improve their comprehensibility. Factorial analysis was performed found 5 factors or dimensions. An excellent overall reliability coefficient of 0.97 was obtained. Some expert teachers proposed additional items that evaluate the educational environment and were not included in the original survey. CONCLUSION: PHEEM questionnaire proved to be a valid and reliable instrument for assessing the educational environment in medical residency. |
