The Matlatzinco was invaded in 1474 by the Mexica-Tenochcas (hegemonic group in that basin), Nahuatl speakers. Matlatzinco was invaded around 1474 by the Mexica-Tenochcas (hegemonic group in that basin), speakers of Nahuatl. The names of that jurisdiction, which are known at present, are those given in Nahuatl by the Mexica invaders: Matlatzinco, and later by the Spaniards: Toluca Valley. The article proposes three Matlatzinca toponyms - the language of the rulers of this jurisdiction.Al poniente de la cuenca de México se ubicó la jurisdicción del Matlatzinco, cuyo paisaje geográfico-cultural se particularizó por la presencia del volcán Nevado de Toluca y de la laguna de Lerma, la cual fue casi totalmente desecada entre 1942 y la década de 1970. El Matlatzinco fue invadido hacia 1474 por los mexica-tenochcas (grupo hegemónico en aquella cuenca), hablantes de náhuatl. Los nombres de esa jurisdicción, que se conocen en la actualidad, son los que le adjudicaron en náhuatl, los invasores mexicas: Matlatzinco, y, después los españoles: Valle de Toluca.
