Research on breastfeeding mothers and everyday life. Study on subjectivity

Objective: To know the subjectivity of a breastfeeding mother based on her environment and culture.Methodology: Qualitative, descriptive and phenomenological design. The data of this research wereobtained from the analysis of interviews conducted with current breastfeeding mothers, between 18and 45 years of age and residing in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As theoretical basis for this analysiswere used the paradigm of complexity by Edgar Morin and the contribution of various sciences suchas sociology, medicine and psychology. Results: New mothers defined the maternity construct aroundthree central categories: lifestyle changes, feelings and perceptions. Conclusion: The majority ofthe respondent mothers have proper knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding, which is related toknowing about the definition and benefits of exclusive maternal breastfeeding and how much theyshould breastfeed their children.
