Although it is certain that the enterprise carries out programs related to environmental sustainability : erosion control, prevention and treatment of slipping lands, study of systems of waters and the use of land. This results quite unsatisfactory because the social and economic development is limited, programs of investment are few, employment is scarce and temporal, there are no local purchases and the effect of contamination is growing in these local communities. Piloting activities are being given with the purpose of promoting cattle (alpaca breeding) and agriculture as well as technical assistance and training with the intention of encouraging new investments in this region of our country.Mediante la visita a las zonas donde opera la mina, así como la observación y entrevistas con los comuneros y autoridades locales, se constata que luego de más de cinco años de operaciones mineras existe una baja aceptación de la empresa, aunque no se perciben situaciones de conflicto. Si bien es cierto que la empresa realiza programas relacionados a la sostenibilidad medio ambiental como control de erosión, prevención y corrección de deslizamiento de tierras, así como estudios de los sistemas de agua y uso de suelos, ello resulta insatisfactorio sobre todo porque en materia de desarrollo local sostenible la situación es débil: la realización de obras de infraestructura social y económica es limitada; los programas e inversiones reales son pocos; la generación de empleo es escaso y temporal; las compras locales son casi nulas, y los efectos de contaminación, uso de aguas, encarecimiento del nivel de vida, etc., afectan en diverso grado a las comunidades locales.
