The results indicate that at a regional level, there is a statistically significant measure that given a 1% decrease in regional children’s undernourishment rate, there is an increase in performance in Reading Comprehension and Mathematics in 0.52% and 0.27% respectively. The nutritional aspect influences school performance through its effect on the cognitive ability of the child.El artículo tiene como objetivo determinar la influencia de la desnutrición sobre el rendimiento escolar en el ámbito de las 25 regiones peruanas. Para tal fin, con información estadística proporcionada por el Ministerio de Educación y utilizando la técnica econométrica de los Mínimos Cuadrados Ordinarios Agrupados, se regresionaron los desempeños regionales de los niños en Comprensión Lectora y Matemática con la desnutrición y un conjunto de variables de control. Los resultados encontrados indican que, a nivel regional, por cada 1% en que disminuye el porcentaje de niños desnutridos, la proporción de aquellos que alcanzan un rendimiento escolar satisfactorio en Comprensión Lectora y Matemática se incrementan en 0,52% y 0,27% respectivamente.
