Method: The research is quantitative and was based on statistical figures obtained from the Extension Tourism Observatory. The explanatory analytical method sought to determine the main causes and effects that have generated the absence of business plans in the different tourist facilities in the sector under study. The population represented by 51 gastronomic infrastructures, 70 commerce and shops and 39 fashion and beauty establishments representing 50.3% of the total services considering a simple non-probabilistic random sampling. Results: A questionnaire of 10 questions was applied on the Likert scale where it was observed that 92.7% of these businesses were conceived without the implementation of a business plan and where 69.2% do not show interest in developing it, although 84.6% recognize that tourism activity is the alternative to achieve economic indicators at the level of representative and sustainable destinations. Conclusion: These results show instabilities in the services, ignoring their sales projections and their scope.Objetivo: Desarrollar un diagnóstico en la actividad comercial para verificar la prevalencia de planes de negocios y su contribución a la sostenibilidad turística de los destinos Sucre y San Vicente. Método: La investigación es cuantitativa y partió de cifras estadísticas obtenidas en el Observatorio Turístico de la extensión. El método analítico explicativo pretendió determinar las principales causas y efectos que han generado la ausencia de planes de negocios en las diferentes instalaciones turísticas del sector objeto estudio. La población fue representada por 51 infraestructuras gastronómicas, 70 de comercio y tiendas y 39 locales de moda y belleza; lo que constituye el 50,3 % del total de los servicios, considerando un muestreo aleatorio simple no probabilístico. Se aplicó un cuestionario de 10 preguntas en la escala de Likert. Resultados: Se observó que el 92,7 % de estos negocios se concibieron sin la implementación de un plan de negocio y donde un 69,2 % no muestran interés por desarrollarlo, aunque un 84,6 % reconoce que la actividad turística es la alternativa para lograr indicadores económicos a nivel de destino representativo y sustentable. Conclusión: Estos resultados muestran inestabilidades en los servicios, desconociendo sus proyecciones de ventas y sus alcances.
