Se examinan las reacciones generadas por el Tratado de Lima de 1929 y el papel del periódico La Patria en la promoción de una visión positiva de este proceso. El discurso de la memoria destaca el heroísmo, la resistencia y la identidad regional, proyectando un futuro de progreso y colaboración entre Perú y Chile. Sin embargo, se considera la influencia política y la necesidad de legitimar el gobierno de Leguía frente a la crisis económica y el desempleo en la región. El artículo analiza cómo este discurso se entrelaza con otros discursos oficiales y las tensiones políticas y sociales de la época, y examina el papel de intelectuales clave en la legitimación del gobierno.
